Intercomparison of photoacoustic and cavity attenuated phase shift instruments: laboratory calibration and field measurements

چکیده

Abstract. The study of aerosol optical properties is essential to understand its impact on the global climate. In our recent field measurement carried out in Gehu area southwest Changzhou City, a photoacoustic extinctiometer (PAX) and cavity attenuated phase shift albedo monitor (CAPS-ALB) were used for online measurement. Laboratory calibration with gas particle samples correct disagreements measurements. During calibration, we adopted ammonium sulfate (AS) scattering nephelometer parts both instruments, then combined these number-size distribution measurements MIE model calculating value total (extinction) coefficient. employed high concentrations NO2 absorption PAX resonator further intercompared extinction coefficient CAPS-ALB cavity-enhanced spectrometer. correction obtained from laboratory experiments was observed correspondingly showed good results comparison reconstructed IMPROVE model. intercomparison calibrated agreement slopes 1.052, 1.024 1.046 extinction, respectively, which shows reliability verifies correlation between instruments.

Intercomparison of Field and Laboratory Goniometer Measurements

Field and laboratory goniometers are widely used in the remote sensing community to assess spectrodirectional reflectance properties of selected targets. Even when the same target and goniometer system are used, field and laboratory results cannot directly be compared due to inherent differences, mainly in the illumination conditions: typically goniometers measure a hemispherical-conical reflec...

Intercomparison of laboratory radiance calibration standards

Several standards for radiometric calibration were measured repeatedly with a spectroradiometer in order to understand how they compared in accuracy and stability. The tested radiance standards included a NIST 1000 W bulb and Spectralon panel, two calibrated and stabilized integrating spheres, and a cavity blackbody. Results indicate good agreement between the blackbody and 1000 W bulb/Spectral...

simulation and experimental studies for prediction mineral scale formation in oil field during mixing of injection and formation water

abstract: mineral scaling in oil and gas production equipment is one of the most important problem that occurs while water injection and it has been recognized to be a major operational problem. the incompatibility between injected and formation waters may result in inorganic scale precipitation in the equipment and reservoir and then reduction of oil production rate and water injection rate. ...

Intercomparison of remote sounding instruments

[1] When intercomparing measurements made by remote sounders, it is necessary to make due allowance for the differing characteristics of the observing systems, particularly their averaging kernels and error covariances. We develop the methods required to do this, applicable to any kind of retrieval method, not only to optimal estimators. We show how profiles and derived quantities such as the t...

Laboratory and field measurements of body composition.

OBJECTIVE This background paper was prepared in response to a request to review the concepts related to measurement of body composition, to discuss laboratory and field methods of assessing body composition and to discuss the practical applications of the methods--how they might be used singly or in combination to provide data for a selected population. DESIGN The common laboratory and field ...
